Aadhaar
is necessary to be linked with the bank accounts in India. Even after
the deadline is crossed, customers are still getting the calls asking
for linking them. With this, it is noted that several cases of cheat
are reported from different parts of the country. In such cases,
calls are received from fake bank executives asking for the ATM PIN
and other details to link the bank account with the aadhaar number.
Such fake calls also threaten people that the accounts will be
blocked and as for sensitive bank details.
As
per alankit fraud
report, several
cases are reported as people were unaware of ways to handle such
calls for aadhaar link to a bank account. We know that banks never
seek sensitive information like internet banking password, card
details, etc through email or phone. If you face any such issue, it
is best to report to the bank or police. You should also track the
Aadhaar use by tracking it on the UIDAI website. Some of the fraud
cases are reported where people posing as UIDAI officials and ask for
the Aadhaar card details, PAN card details and ask to link them to
PAN or bank accounts.
In
fraud cases, they ask for the OTP sent to the particular mobile
number and with its use, they change the mobile number that is linked
to the Aadhaar number with their own number. They easily download the
Aadhaar app that provides them complete detail of the Aadhaar to
which the SIM is linked. With this, they get details of bank accounts
and other details. This facilitates hassle free fraud and people
should be well aware of them. Hence, when you receive any such fraud
call, it is best to deny of providing any information and visit your
branch bank and update details if needed.
